Lily Zhou, born in China, started her art journey with Chinese painting at a young age. She later worked as a marketing communications consultant for corporations and delivered creative communications strategies. She immigrated to Canada in 1999, first based in Toronto as an IT consultant and before moving to Oakville, Ontario in 2014. Intrigued by the vibrant colours and rich expression of western painting, she started painting in Acrylic, oil and mixed medium in 2015. Her art works include both representational art works, and abstract expressions. She has studied different techniques from important artists and applied the skills into her own paintings. She is currently enrolled in the Visual and Creative Art program at Sheridan College. Being an active member of Oakville Art Society for many years, her work has been shown in various art exhibitions and juried shows in Ontario, and held in private collections.
Enthusiastic about travel, gardening and yoga, most of her works are inspired by nature, characterized with versatile use of colour, poetic expression and a harmony of East and West aesthetics.
